About the Author

My name is Chikamso Victor Kanu, I was born on 26th February 2011, which means I am 12 years old. I belong to a family of 6 as the second child with 3 siblings and 2 parents. My parents are engineers which encourages me to be a great person in the future. I have a younger sister, a younger brother, and an older sister. I am mostly close to my little brother as he is the only brother I have. However, I do love my sisters too. I was born in Nigeria and came with my family to the UK when I was 2 years old. I started nursery at Stenhouse nursery and stayed in the school up to primary 3 before I moved to Dean Park Primary School. In Dean Park my friends and I loved making cartoons which first led me to making short books in Primary 4. After that in Primary 6, I went back to those short stories and linked them all together. Now I am improving those stories into books. I am planning to write at least three books if not four, as writing gives me happiness and it helps me calm down and relax. The reason why I like writing is because I have a big imagination, think about a lot of stuff, and I do not like forgetting my ideas. My handwriting is not perfect but I am working very hard to improve on it. I really like maths; it is my favourite subject. It is fun learning how to code with my family and I have created 3 websites so far though I am still making more. In my leisure time, I play games like rocket leagues code, and create stories from scratch. I have two you tube channels where I enjoy sharing my games: https: //www.youtube.com/@ballisticshortz8858 and coding tips: https: //www.youtube.com/channel/UCZCE8x_2Dv2MRDZ9jiyUnJg I am sporty which improves my mental health and wellbeing. I enjoy playing football, hockey, basketball and going swimming. I also play guitar, piano and cello and enjoy the times I spend with my family during the weekend to watch movies

Reviews

Twelve year old Chikamso Kanu has written an entertaining illustrated book for 9-12 year old boys and girls. Both fun and engrossing, it takes the reader into the world of childhood gangs with several groups of vivid and imaginary characters and their day to day adventures. The pacing was good and there was much food for thought to engage the young reader. The book is well thought out in structure with each event flowing seamlessly into the next one. The author has an impressive imagination to conjure up the world of these imaginary beings and their interactions with each other. I liked the comics within the book too - such a good, innovative idea! I found the young author's voice clear and I liked how he asked questions of the readers to keep them engaged in the storylines. I loved all the characters and their descriptions which were clear and to the point. They were all unique and well-drawn in their personalities. Summary I think this book would be appreciated by many children, as it's engaging and contemporary, as seen through the eyes and mind of the 12 year old author. It could be a successful animated tv series for children aged 9-12.
