About the Author

Clement Clarke Moore was born in New York City in 1779 and died in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1863. He was a scholar and writer of various topics, but is best known for his poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," which was first published anonymously in 1823 as "A Visit from St. Nicholas." It was finally attributed to Moore in 1844 as a poem he wrote for his children.

Mary Engelbreit grew up studying the illustrations in the vintage storybooks of her mother's own childhood, and she developed a unique style that harkens back to those simpler times. She has authored and illustrated several New York Times bestselling titles, including The Night Before Christmas, Mary Engelbreit's Mother Goose, and Mary Engelbreit's A Merry Little Christmas. Mary's distinctive images have made her a celebrity to millions. Her designs can be found on gift items, calendars, books, fabrics, and more.
