About the Author
Dr. Alia Khan-Hudson was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and graduated from Pakistan College in the UAE before obtaining an MBBS from Fatima Jinnah Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. She finished her residency as a board certified chief resident at King Drew Medical Center in internal medicine and finished her fellowship at the UCLA department of gerontology. She also worked as an advanced fellow at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Los Angeles. Her article on elder abuse was acknowledged in the Journal of the National Medical Association, she received an award for her presentation to the American Geriatric Society on "Sleep Disturbances in Assisted Living Facilities - Evidence and Contributing Factors," and her chapter "Sleep and Quality of Life in Older People" was published in Sleep and Quality of Life in Clinical Medicine (Verster, Joris C., Pandi-Perumal, S.R., and Streiner, David L., eds. New Jersey: Humana Press, 2008). She also obtained training at Harvard Macy Institute on the Program for Educators in Health Care Professions. She currently works as a hospitalist.
