MelissaScholes Young is the author of the novels The Hive and Flood and the editor of Grace in Darkness and Furious Gravity--twoanthologies by women writers. She is a contributing editor at FictionWriters Review, and her work has appeared in the Atlantic, Ms., Washington Post, Poets & Writers, Ploughshares, Literary Hub, and the Believer. She has been the recipient of the Bread Loaf Bakeless CamargoFoundation Residency Fellowship, the Center for Mark Twain Studies' Quarry FarmFellowship, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts Fellowship. Born andraised in Hannibal, Missouri, she is an associate professor in Literature atAmerican University.
