"This story is wildly fantastical, celebratory of diverse gender expression, righteously vengeful, and plentifully dark and twisty." —Booklist
"Fans of the series will delight in the continuing saga [...] Give to fans of Heartstopper who are looking for a fantasy and paranormal twist." —School Library Journal
The second stunning collection of creator Stan Stanley’s YALSA Award–winning, Ignatz Award nominated, critically acclaimed webcomic series, Hazards of Love, continues the epic tale of love, loss, and redemption . . . with a strong possibility of musical numbers.
Welcome back to Bright World! A strange, otherworldly realm of the seemingly impossible, whose flesh-hungry inhabitants rule over any human unlucky enough to fall in! Locked into a cycle of lost memories, broken promises, and the threat of being imminently devoured, the humans in Bright World can only look forward to an existence that promises ceaseless servitude.
This is where troublemaking Queens, New York, teenager Amparo found themself trapped after making a shady deal gone wrong with a suspect feline who then assumed Amparo’s identity, name, physical form—everything!
Now, separated from their Brooklyn–based girlfriend, Iolanthe, Amparo must do everything in their power to escape the confines of Bright World and return home to their friends, family, and loved ones, even as they find themself turning into a monster due to the machinations of their sponsor, the enigmatic (and possibly evil) El Ciervo.
But all isn't lost, because Iolanthe hasn't given up on finding the missing Amparo, and neither have her allies from both the land of the dead and the land of Brooklyn. All Amparo has to do is stay alive, but in Bright World, that's no easy feat.

"This story is wildly fantastical, celebratory of diverse gender expression, righteously vengeful, and plentifully dark and twisty."
"At the end of the first volume of this series, Amparo got stuck in the vibrant and weird Bright World. As this volume begins, Iolanthe starts her journey to rescue him by speaking to the ghost of Amparo’s abuela, who tells her that Amparo is in the house of the Deer Man. Iolanthe must decide if she has what it takes to move between worlds to find him. This book features a very large cast of characters presented in a series of vignettes. Each one has a lot going on in their individual stories, but also play a role in the overall narrative. Fans of the series will delight in the continuing saga, but newcomers will definitely want to go back and read volume one. VERDICT Give to fans of Heartstopper who are looking for a fantasy and paranormal twist."
Acclaim for The Hazards of Love Book One:
YALSA Top 10 Great Graphic Novel For Teens
New York Public Library Best Book for Teens
Ignatz Award Nominee for Outstanding Story
"A noir fantasy—part adventure, part love story, all the way spectacularly creepy."
"This rich, fantastical story is brought to life with Stanley’s vibrant colors and wonderfully bold lines in artwork that is a joy to look at. The cruelty of Bright World will keep readers fully invested in Fawn’s struggle to survive and retain their identity, and the specifics of their nonbinary gender identity, a topic of conversation among several characters, are handled with respect and fidelity."
"This fantastical, stunning tale shines in both story and artwork."
