About the Author
Paola Peretti lives in the province of Verona, Italy. She studied literature, philosophy, and graduated with a degree in publishing and journalism in 2011, and later attended the Palomar School of creative writing in Rovigo. Fifteen years ago, she was diagnosed with a rare genetic illness called Stargardt disease--the same as her main character--which causes progressive vision loss and eventual blindness. She is currently teaching Italian to immigrant children. The Distance between Me and the Cherry Tree is her debut novel.
Denise Muir is an Italian to English translator with a special interest in children's literature. In her twenty-year career, she has translated the full gamut from board books to young adult fiction and everything in between. Her translations have been nominated for the Carnegie Prize three times, and The Distance Between Me and the Cherry Tree was selected as the IBBY UK 2020 nominee in the translation category. She lives in Edinburgh, Scotland where she also teaches psychology in a local secondary school.
