Description

A Gift - A Purpose - A Battle

Set in the heartland of early twentieth-century Iowa, The Catalyst follows Benjamin Paulie, a young boy with an active imagination. Dismissed from traditional schooling in his early years because of perceived learning difficulties, Benjamin spends his days at his father's side on a modest horse farm in Greenfield. While his father tends to the stables, Benjamin sketches endlessly, dreaming of soaring weightlessly atop a majestic steed. After a life-altering accident, an enchanting bond with a horse sets him on a course that reveals a remarkable talent that propels him from the familiar fields of the farm to the grandeur of the 1927 National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden. Along the way, his courage, resilience, and the loyalty of those around him shape his destiny in ways he could never have imagined.

Yet as Benjamin's story unfolds, a celestial battle brews in unseen realms. Watching over him and the world are Heaven's warriors-an elite group of angels entrusted with guiding humanity. But their efforts to protect and shape fate are threatened by an encroaching darkness. Corruption and deceit fester beneath the surface as the Great Depression looms on the horizon, tipping the balance toward chaos. The angels await their leader, the one destined to unite them and reveal their true purpose. To restore a lost and fallen world, they must fight the final battle between good and evil ... and only the Catalyst can lead them to victory.

With unlikely alliances, divine interventions, and an epic struggle against darkness, The Catalyst is a tale of hope, destiny, and the extraordinary power of belief.

Reviews

"The Waiting by Kim Koontz, the first in the series The Catalyst, is a masterfully written tale that immerses readers in a journey of faith, perseverance, and the undeniable power of God's hand in our lives. From the opening pages, the story captivates with its rich characters and intricate plot involving the interplay between darkness and light, angels and humans, and God and His world, offering a profound reminder that even in life's darkest moments, hope and redemption are never out of reach. I was drawn into Koontz's narrative which challenged me to reflect on the question: What does it truly mean to trust God's plan, even when it defies all understanding?

"Kim Koontz doesn't just tell a story-she invites readers to embark on a transformative experience. The Waiting will leave you pondering your own journey of faith and how God uses even the most unlikely circumstances to accomplish His divine purposes. This is a must-read for those who long to be inspired and reminded of the beauty of walking in obedience to God's call." -Matthew Dowling, pastor and hospital chaplain

"A riveting, genre-crossing work, The Catalyst, Book One: The Waiting gives readers a glimpse into Great Depression-era America with an engrossing narrative. Historians and history enthusiasts alike will appreciate the on-point and nuanced details of life in this era. All readers will appreciate the storytelling. Truly a type of novel all its own, and a fresh take on historical fiction." -Luke Pickelman, MA, JD, professor of history at Northwestern Michigan College

"When I started reading The Catalyst, from the first chapter, I was hooked! Characters you love and hate. This story will bring God into your life even if your faith is nonexistent and for those who are believers, your faith will be strengthened. I highly recommend this book!" -Adrianne Croket, marketing specialist for Visiting Angels, Dearborn
