Description
Four orphaned siblings, determined to stay together as a family, decide to inhabit an abandoned boxcar and turn it into their new home in the woods. When one of the siblings falls ill, the others go out to seek a doctor to save their sister. About the Author
Gertrude Chandler Warner grew up in Putnam, Connecticut. She wrote The Boxcar Children because she had always dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or a freight car--just as the Aldens do. When readers asked for more adventures, Warner wrote more books--a total of nineteen in all. After her death, other authors have continued to write stories about Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden, and today The Boxcar Children(R) series has more than one hundred books.
Jilly Bond studied English & drama at Bristol University. She has more than thirty years of experience acting on stage, for television and film, and for radio and audiobooks. When not acting or voice acting, she can be found teaching, directing, or producing. The critically acclaimed winner of two Earphones Awards, she has recorded more than a hundred audiobooks.
