About the Author

Lewis Carroll (1832 - 1898) is the pseudonym of English author, mathematician, logician, and photographer Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. His most famous writings are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, but he is also well known for his poems "The Hunting of the Snark" and "Jabberwocky," which, like his novels, are examples of literary nonsense. A beloved children's author, he is noted for his facility at word play, logic, and fantasy.
Martin Gardner (1914-2010) is regarded as one of the world's leading experts on Lewis Carroll and his work. The author of more than a hundred books, he wrote the Mathematical Games column for Scientific American for twenty-five years and has been hailed by Douglas Hofstadter as one of the great intellects produced in this country in this century.
Sir John Tenniel was already a renowned cartoonist when he was invited to produce illustrations for Alice. His exquisite engravings are among the most iconic and best loved images in the world.
