About the Author

Paul Fisher is the author of House of Wits: An Intimate Portrait of the James Family and Artful Itineraries: European Art and American Careers in High Culture, 1865-1920. He grew up in Wyoming, was educated at Harvard and Trinity College, Cambridge, and received his Ph.D. from Yale. He teaches American literature at Wellesley College and lives in Boston, Massachusetts.

Frances Fowle is Chair of Nineteenth-Century Art, University of Edinburgh, UK and Senior Curator, National Galleries of Scotland, UK. She is a co-founder and board member at TIAMSA. Her previous publications include Van Gogh's Twin: The Scottish Art Dealer Alexander Reid (2010) and Globalising Impressionism: Reception, Translation and Transnationalism (2020).

DOMINIC GREEN was born some time ago. He is so old that he remembers when telephones were attached to the wall with cables. In 2006, he was nominated for a Hugo award for his story, The Clockwork Atom Bomb. He has a tetrapod body plan, breathes oxygen, and has a Newfoundland dog who is the world's first life form to consist entirely of drool.

Anna Reynolds is deputy surveyor of The Queen's Pictures at Royal Collection Trust. In 2012 she delivered a paper "Democratising Fashion" at the TEDx conference at the Houses of Parliament. She is the author of In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion and A Royal Welcome and has contributed to Royal Childhood and Portrait of the Artist.
