About the Author
Michelle Duster is co-author of the popular children's history book Tate and His Historic Dream. Her other two books, Ida In Her Own Words and Ida From Abroad, include both her writing and that of her great-grandmother, Ida B. Wells. She is a frequent speaker for churches, universities and community organizations. In addition, she is involved with various committees dedicated to documenting and promoting the contributions women and African Americans have made to the United States. Michelle has a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in Media Studies from The New School in New York City. Trina Sotira teaches Composition and Creative Writing at College of DuPage as a full-time faculty member. Additionally, she is pursuing a Ph.D in rhetoric at Northern Illinois University after completing her M.A. in American and British literature. Her undergraduate work was done at Columbia College Chicago in broadcast journalism which introduced an early career in news. Her first novel In Her Skin received recognition for revealing the struggles of a transgender teen.
