Who can keep a secret better than a sister?
As long as she can remember, it's been Nicola and her older, charismatic sister Viv against the world. Abandoned by their parents when Viv was in high school, the two survived their childhood thanks to Viv's grit and determination. They turned out pretty well, too: Viv is a successful surgeon, happily married, living with three enormous dogs in a big house in Nashville, Tennessee. Nicola's choices have been less traditional, but the 26-year-old loves her itinerant life as a mural painter.
Then comes the midnight phone call we all dread. There's been a car wreck that leaves Viv widowed and unconscious. Nicola drops everything to get to Viv's side.
Before that call, Nicola would have said that she and Viv were as close as sisters can be. Sure they couldhave spent more time together, but they talked every week. Nicola thought she knew all about their past, their parents, and the shape their future lives would take. But as she cares for Viv's house and the dogs and waits for Viv to wake, Nicola discovers that her sister has been concealing a tangle of astonishing secrets, mysterious half-truths, and a shared history that Nicola never imagined.
Set in 1993, She Taught Me Everything explores the family secrets, the unshakable bond between sisters, and the difficult choices that can redefine the entire shape of a family.

32nd Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Award in Mainstream/Literary Fiction
2024 Quarterfinalist Booklife Prize in Fiction
I'm not going to say much because that's the fun of this novel. Details of the past are released bit by bit to the big reveal at the end. This a sister story about two girls whose only stability in their childhood was each other. Linton writes well, with vivid details and interesting characters.
-Betsey Kepes, North Country Public Radio, June 18, 2024
Linton gets the reader invested with detailed character work and crackerjack plotting. This one is hard to put down. -Publisher's Weekly, September 2024
She Taught Me Everything achieves a difficult balance between equal parts present day narrative and context. The two timelines are woven so seamlessly-never dipping into the past without a visual or narrative cue-that it can be easier to forget that we are flashing back, that these really are separate threads in Nicola's life...This made for a resonant relationship layered with intentional, detailed sentences-a most-complicated narrative that I couldn't put down. -Judge, 32nd Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards:
All in all, She Taught Me Everything was an incredibly beautifully written piece of literary fiction with elements of mystery that made the story even more compelling...I would recommend this novel to anyone interested in steadily-paced stories about sisterhood and family secrets with elements of mystery and complex, fleshed-out characters. -Simon Huynh of Reedsy Discovery
I love the elements of mysery, humour, and art that create texture in this story, and I think the sister relationship at the core of it is quite poignant. -Katie Zdybel, award-winning author of Equipoise
"I couldn't stop reading this beautifully layered and neatly written book-finished in tears at 1:45 am." -Goodreads reviewer
