Saving Grace...and Other Tales of Animal Encounters
Virginia Larsen
(Author)
Description
What do a duck, a dove, and a dog have in common? All three begin with the letter "d," all three are animals, and all three have been rescued by a kind-hearted Samaritan who was in the right place at the right time. For more than eighty years, Virginia Larsen has offered relief to creatures in distress - from a mouse in a canal, to a toad in a well, to a kitten in a mailbox. Just as meaningfully, she has experienced a host of "holy moments" with animals everywhere from her Minnesota living room to a porch in Madagascar. Along the way, she has come to believe in the power of serendipitous intersections to transform - to save - even the smallest of lives.Product Details

About the Author
After a lifetime of wishing to be a writer, feeling certain that fiction was her calling, Virginia Larsen finally realized that her life experiences, particularly those involving unexpected encounters with animals, were better than any story she could concoct. Certainly, she enjoyed her students as a language and communication teacher in North Dakota, Minnesota, and several foreign countries, but at least half her heart has always belonged to the feathered, the furry, and the clawed. Larsen's previous work includes a translation of Lilo Beil's collection of German short stories, Shadow Time, along with a volume of essays about her hunch-backed, club-footed cockatiel entitled The Book of Lurch. Her next project will chronicle memorable encounters with her fellow human beings, more true experiences from a never-bored life.
