Puss 'N Boötes: Dark Poems
Polly Alice McCann
(Illustrator)
Description
In this new collection, Polly Alice plunges her familiar style of lyrical free verse into dark and stormy dreamscapes where readers will find their way back by the flickering light of folk characters reimagined: Eve, The White Cat, Dorothy of Oz, Red Riding Hood, Gerda & The Snow Queen, and mythical characters from Spring constellation like Boötes, the hunter and shepherd, to tie in what Polly calls the readers' primitive emotions or our "Mother Natures." Puss 'N Boötes is Polly's third book of narrative poetry and a companion book to her first two collections, Kinlight (2017) and Tea with Alice (2019) both by Flying Ketchup Press. About the Author
Polly Alice McCann, author, artist, mother of two began writing poetry after a trip to the desert where she slept with only a book for a pillow. She won the 2014 Ernest Hartmann award from the International Association for the Study of Dreams from Berkley, CA, for research on the subconscious writing process. She is the founder of Ketchupedia Poetry Radio and the managing editor of Flying Ketchup Press. Her soft sculptural paintings are created with imperfect stitching, "I want my work to help share the beauty of imperfection meeting God's grace that mends the broken-hearted." Her poetry books Kinlight, Tea with Alice, and Puss 'N Boötes share her meditations on faith, nature, and the power of a woman becoming visible. Find her at PollyMcCann.com.
