A Covert Rescue Mission No One Expects to Succeed--Who will survive?

Special operator and "nice Jewish kid from Hawaii," Jake "Snake" Drecker, is intent on a mission across borders to eliminate a brutal terrorist cell. That they may or may not also be holding an American missionary hostage is unclear. The intelligence is sketchy, the objectives vague, and the chance of success slim. Jake's boss and old friend, Lieutenant Colonel Mike "Pancho" Sanchez, wonders at the mysterious motivation behind his best soldier's decisions--and about an equally mysterious rogue military unit that shows up at the worst moments to insert itself into their operations. That the CIA seems willing to sacrifice both Drecker's team and the hostage only adds to the mystery, forcing Pancho to dig deep to discover the truth behind the missionary's past. And time is running out as Drecker drags his team on a quixotic rescue operation into the very belly of the beast--a mission Drecker and Pancho both know they cannot survive unscathed.

Reviews

Forgive the cliche, but Tim Moynihan has crafted a genuine barn-burning, page-turning story about a few good men (soldiers not Marines) who get together to execute near-impossible missions. I especially enjoy that Moynihan seeks opportunities to insert critical issues of faith into the story making it God honoring in compelling ways. Prodigal Avenger grabbed my attention from the first chapter and kept me on edge until the final pages. Well done!--Rich Botkin, military historian, author and producer of Ride the Thunder and former USMC Infantry Officer

Brad Meltzer, Mark Dawson, and the rest had better watch out: Tim Moynihan has arrived with Prodigal Avenger, the best military/suspense novel I've read in years. The book is well-written, fast-paced, and fun. It grabs you from the very first scene and drags you along behind a MH-60 on a low-level insert. Moynihan not only knows the jargon, he knows the characters from real life. As a former intelligence officer and a tabbed Ranger, he's been there and done that behind the scenes. His experience all comes through in this excellent novel. I especially liked the faith element which merges seamlessly with the tales of military intrigue!--Joseph Courtemanche, actor, author of Assault on Saint Agnes, and former Navy Security Group Direct Support Operator

Tim Moynihan has written a fantastic novel and story--I highly recommend Prodigal Avenger to anyone who likes military genre stories. Although fiction, the book reads more like nonfiction because of the substantial detail and research which the author put into its creation. Moynihan has written a masterful inside account of a breed of soldiers few ever really know. The 'operators' about whom he writes are a close-knit group of individualists who are the 'backbone' of Special Ops and whose missions are never revealed to the public except in extraordinary circumstances like the killing of Osama Bin Laden by Seal Team Six. I know because I worked and flew for the 5th Special Forces and the CIA in Vietnam for nearly three years during the 1960's and then again for the CIA six months in 1971 in the Middle East. --Stan Corvin, Jr, author, Vietnam Saga: Exploits of a Combat Helicopter Pilot

Every war draws a superabundance of books in its wake. Every GI has a story and an opinion. Some are mere chest beating. Others offer actual wisdom for life beyond combat. Prodigal Avenger is the latter in spades. It is well-written, intensely engaging, electrifying in its action; and reflective in its after-action. You will not want to put the book down. And even when you do manage to set it aside temporarily, the story will follow you and will draw you back. The story, while human to the core, potently managesto lift the reader to a higher plain. Enjoy it. And live the better for having read it." --Stu Webber, pastor, former Green Beret Vietnam Veteran and author, Tender Warrior and The Warrior Soul
