About the Author

Jessica Kelley is a teacher from Norman, Oklahoma with a degree in elementary education. She has taught many eager (and not so eager) 3rd and 4th graders, and loves them all equally. She is passionate and dedicated to helping children learn and considers it her calling in life. She loves creating art, doing crafts, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. This is the first book she has written but she wants to write more.
Sam Smith is an artist from Oklahoma City. This story is special to her because the illustrations represent how some people need different tools, like a wheelchair, to navigate the world and still have fun. The inspiration for the character comes from the artist's real-life hero, her mom. Seeing her mother fearlessly conquer the world in her leg brace and sparkly boots showed her anyone can live life with grace and courage, despite physical differences.
