Sir James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was a Scottish playwright and novelist. While his most popular creation, Peter Pan, eventually overshadowed almost all of his other work, he is regarded as one of the greatest Scottish-born writers. A man of good nature, before his death he signed the rights of Peter Pan over to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, which continues to benefit them.
F. D. Bedford (1864-1954) was a British artist and illustrator. He was born in Notting Hill and lived in London. He painted genre scenes and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1892. Bedford's works include illustrations for A Book of Nursery Rhymes, A Christmas Carol, and The Cricket on the Heart
