"... a multi-layered masterpiece that both children and parents will want to read again and again. The lyrical text, combined with Kellie Menendez's standout watercolor paintings, adds up to an incredibly impressive debut children's book."--Katie Hintz-Zambrano, founder and editor of MOTHER Magazine
"Curiosity, beauty, science and art--Patterns, Patterns Everywhere is a gorgeous celebration of the systems that make our world. [...] This is the kind of story that changes the way you see." --Emily F. Peters, author of Artists Remaking Medicine
"A lovely and beautifully written story that encourages kids to hone their own artistic senses. Kids will see the world differently after reading this impressive debut."--Angela Dominguez, NYT bestselling author of the Stella Díaz series
"This magical book encourages children to truly look at the world around them. Such a simple but powerful concept in the world we live in. With so many things competing for our time it takes intention to pay attention! It encouraged me to pay more attention to the world around me."--Temi Adamolekun, bestselling author of Your Special Voice
"Artist and designer Menendez, [makes] her picture book debut with this rhyming work focused on repetition. . . it's a fast-moving survey that opens a conversation about the conceit that ranges beyond its usual visual understanding." -- "Publishers Weekly"
"A new perspective is just one delight to be gained from this stunning picture book about the patterns [...] that can be found all around us. [...] children are encouraged to go out and find their own examples too."-- "Foreword Reviews"
Patterns from the jungle to the ocean to the night sky and everywhere in between are featured in this attractive picture book. Rhyming couplets and lush watercolor illustrations effectively show the concept, but readers don't get an explanation of what patterns are until the back matter. Appearing there is a definition as well as more information on the appearance of patterns in math, nature, music, and art. Children will enjoy pointing out the colorful details in the illustrations, from stripes to polka dots; these are found on animals, clothing, and works of art. Repeating readings are inevitable because there is always more to discover on the pages. . . . This delightful exploration of patterns works well as a read-aloud and complements early childhood lessons on patterns.-- "School Library Journal, STARRED REVIEW"
