About the Author

Daniel Goleman, a former science journalist for the New York Times, is the author of thirteen books and lectures frequently to professional groups and business audiences and on college campuses. He cofounded the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning at the Yale University Child Studies Center (now at the University of Illinois, at Chicago).

Cary Cherniss received his PhD from Yale University. He went on to teach at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the University of Illinois in Chicago, the Chicago Medical School, and the Illinois Institute of Technology. In 1983, he went to Rutgers University where he helped create the doctoral program in Organizational Psychology at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. He currently is Professor of Applied Psychology Emeritus at Rutgers.
