Reviews
One of the Most Anticipated Books of Fall 2024 -- BookPage One of the Most Anstonishingly Unconventional Children's Books of 2024 - 100 Scope Notes, School Library Journal A Kids Indie Next List Pick -- American Booksellers Association A Favorite Children's Book of 2024 -- Growing Book By Book "Spiegelman brings his charismatic illustration style to this wacky, metafictional picture book, which claims it's not a book....Kids are sure to delight in how much Open Me . . . I'm a Dog commits to the bit: It even features fuzzy pages and a leash." -- BookPage "Uses clever word play and mixed media to encourage kids to have a hands-on experience with the book. The part that really shines is the quality of the illustrations....a great book to introduce to a toddler and bring out for story time." -- The Tiny Bookstore "A winning conceit, with ingenuous tongue-in-cheek illustrations." -- Kirkus Reviews "Thought-provoking...inviting...Seems likely to grab Gen X-ers...ticklish enough to ensnare kids too..." -- Publishers Weekly "Remember when Kramer wrote a coffee table book about coffee tables that actually turned into a little coffee table? I was reminded of that absurd fictional literary achievement when I got my hands on a copy of Art Spiegelman's latest. Because Open Me...I'm a Dog! has a leash. Yes, I repeat, when you buy this book, it has little leash attached to the top of the spine. And that's just the first of the host of playful, inventive, and even tactile elements that litter (pun) this little book about a dog transforming into a book." - Travis Jonker, 100 Scope Notes, School Library Journal
