Description

Old Guy Dad recounts the adventures of a man who, in the autumn of his years--or at least the pre-autumn--discovers his girlfriend is pregnant. He is going to be a father. Again. Only this time he wants to do it right: no heroin, plenty of low-back pain.
A collection of celebrated columns from The Rumpus with new material and never-before-told tales, OG Dad finds Jerry Stahl fighting a terminal disease--not to mention mortality, sleeplessness, and the soul-crushing weirdness of preschool drop-offs with parents half his age. Square is the last frontier.

Reviews

"Listen up Gen X, Gen Y, and Millennial Dads: the OG Dad has just plunked his creaky carcass down in the Barca-lounger and is about to spit some harsh, hilarious, and needful wisdom your way. Crack any of these essays and get smarter. You're welcome." --Patton Oswalt

"This book has more truth and humor in one sentence than most people experience in a lifetime. I know nothing about children, but if Jerry Stahl can be a dad again after his hell of a ride, he's just about the only guy that gives me hope that someday I could be a great father, too." --Natasha Lyonne

Jerry Stahl should either get the Pulitzer Prize
or be shot down in the street like a dog. --Anthony Bourdain

A better-than-Burroughs virtuoso. --The New Yorker

No one can make me laugh while kicking me down
the dark tunnel of self like Jerry Stahl. --Marc Maron

Stahl's brilliantly demented riffs beg to be read--or screamed--out loud.
--Entertainment Weekly
