Seamus Shea is drinking his way through a messy life. He just lost his job as a San Francisco Chronicle columnist, his wife left him eight months ago, and he's still wrestling with the tragic death of his brother, a former SFPD narcotics agent.

When Seamus learns his best friend, a beloved high school teacher, has confessed to killing one of his students, Seamus must put aside personal demons and act to save his friend.

Determined to find the real killer, Seamus's investigation takes him to all corners of San Francisco, where he confronts cold-hearted criminals, crooked cops, haughty philanthropists, and a high school student with a solid right cross. To succeed and uncover the truth behind the murder, Seamus will need to confront uncomfortable truths from his past, his own addiction, and even his mortality.

Reviews

EDITOR'S PICK - "Smart, tense San Francisco mystery...With fleet, conversational prose befitting its columnist sleuth, Conroy's debut is a gripping thriller, steeped in local flavor, that deftly builds on the suspense it establishes on the first page-with just the right amount of leads, red herrings, and nail-biting action." - Booklife by Publisher's Weekly

"A well-crafted detective story...Conroy is a talented storyteller; the narrative is well paced, includes engaging, fully dimensional characters, and feels like an episode of one's favorite crime drama ... Seamus' struggle with alcoholism is portrayed with both incredible detail and potency ... the plot entails multiple twists that are sure to keep even the most avid murder mystery fans on their toes." - Kirkus Reviews

"No Special Hurry will have readers cheering on its imperfect protagonist, Seamus Shea, as he battles his inner demons and takes on corrupt individuals in his San Francisco neighborhood. Well-written with a solid plot and colorful characters, this book is perfect for James Patterson and David Baldacci fans." -San Francisco Book Review

"Colman Conroy's Seamus Shea will take you on a tour of a San Francisco that is not yet quite forgotten and still intermingles within what San Francisco is and is becoming. As Seamus seeks to uncover a mystery that threatens a close friend, he must also find and open his own broken heart. No Special Hurry unfolds in the type of hurry that keeps a reader locked in place with the book open. It features heroes and villains aplenty, some of whom seem somehow familiar yet are their own unique and timely representations of good and evil."-JOHN KRALIK, author of A Simple Act of Gratitude and Three Bodies by the River

"No Special Hurry stars Seamus the Shamus as he tries to free his jailed friend for a murder he, presumedly, did not commit. The former columnist has been warned to 'Let It Be' and not get involved in the investigation while he battles alcoholism, guilt, and grief from a death in the family, along with various beatings and altercations. Colman Conroy takes the reader on a ride around San Francisco using his creative and descriptive prose, allowing the reader to almost solve the case. This action-thriller is beautifully crafted storytelling that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat and unable to lay the book down. A solid offering from this author, with hopes of more to come." -BILL SHEEHAN, author of A Tail Among Tales
