About the Author

Joli Hannah, a children's book author and publisher, started working with international publishers in 2000 to create children's books, which over time she began writing herself. She is raising three children in a charming house in the countryside, and every night before bedtime, she reads or invents original stories for them. Joli works under a pseudonym, as she wishes her readers to perceive her through her stories and not through her image on social media. She loves life, people, and their stories, and was born and raised in an industrial city in Central Europe.

Amelia Herbertson is an illustrator known for her vibrant and colorful artworks inspired by her love of nature and botanicals. In her cozy, plant-filled studio, she works primarily with watercolor and gouache. Her quirky illustrations have been featured on stationery, home décor, and a range of trinket dishes for the homeware brand Anthropologie. In addition to her illustration work, Amelia enjoys gardening, watching cheesy eighties movies, and reading a book with a cup of tea. She is based in Sydney, Australia.

Selected for The Children's Book Council's February 2024 "Hot Off The Press" Reading List

"Using little stories about environmental protection, this beautifully illustrated book will enchant readers with its vivid landscapes. Each page is filled with illustrations that vividly bring to life the natural world, from lush green forests to deep blue oceans. The stories and images create a powerful and inspiring message about the beauty and fragility of our planet. Nature: Why We Need to Care for Our Planet is charming, educational, and highly recommended especially for school and public library collections." --Midwest Book Review-Children's Bookwatch

"The images in the book are full of color and depict a diverse, beautiful world in need of human assistance." --Laura Gardner, Dartmouth Middle School

"Caring for the planet can involve complex topics and concepts, yet this lovely book does a great job of giving an overview and explaining terms like biodiversity, and ecological footprint. In part, it is a call to question the disconnectedness of modern life from nature, calling on children to think about what elements are needed to sustain life (air, water, sunlight) and which are not (social media, technology). Above all, it pushes us to learn from humanity's mistakes in order to bring ourselves back into harmony with nature, restoring the delicate balance of life on the planet. It ends on a hopeful note, which practical ideas of what we each can do make a difference." --All Done Monkey

"It's a great book for kids who don't know about what is going on with climate change and what it's impacting. We would definitely ten thousand percent recommend this book because it opens up what's happening in the world." --Kids Book Buzz

"Nature: Why We Need to Care for Our Planet is a beautifully illustrated book that introduces young readers to topics like biodiversity, ecology, forestry, and ecosystems in a kid-friendly way. What a phenomenonal work this is! Without being overly negative, it aims to inspire young readers to make changes in their daily lives." --Fun Reads for Kids, IG
