About the Author

Christopher Lloyd is a world history author, educator and lecturer. His books include Absolutely Everything! (What on Earth Books 2018) and the bestselling Britannica All New Kids' Encyclopedia (Britannica Books 2020). It's Up to Us has been written in collaboration with His Majesty's Sustainable Market Initiative and The Prince's Foundation, of which His Majesty is President, which provides holistic solutions to the challenges facing the world today and champions a sustainable approach to how we live our lives and build our communities. Profits from the sale of this book will be used to support the Prince's Foundation's charitable work.

Throughout his adult life, His Majesty King Charles III has dedicated himself to charitable causes, including environmental protection and sustainable development. He launched Terra Carta, his vision for a new contract between nature, people and planet, in early 2021.

Each spread is illustrated by a different artist in the spirit of Terra Carta, to celebrate a global diversity of style, background, race and ethnicity.

Reviews

Honor Book, The Green Earth Book Award 2023

"A beautiful book." - School Library Journal

It's Up to Us "celebrates nature and the diverse world we live in, while giving an honest yet optimistic take on collective sustainability. Beautifully illustrated, it makes a sweet birthday gift for a span of young ages." - Jane Sung, Forbes Vetted

"Readers ... will linger and consider the writing more in conjunction with the gorgeous artwork. Using
styles ranging from realistic, geometric, and whimsical to folk-art, comic book, and surreal, 33 artists from around the world (many of whom will be new to American viewers) depict both the
beauty of Earth and its need for help
." - Angela Leeper, Booklist

"As much as this is a celebration of nature it also celebrates the global community ... Christopher Lloyd's words shine on each page." - Sarah Street, The Silvan Reverie
