About the Author

Carissa Shillito has always liked to write, draw, and play the fiddle. She grew up in a big city near Dallas and now lives in a small Kansas town. She loves riding in a dust-covered van along country roads with her husband and four boys and coming home to a Christian retreat center called Shalom, which means peace. It was there that her family had the privilege of living with an "Ernest," who was 100 years old. Friends and family are the most important part of Carissa's life besides her best friend, Jesus.

Reviews

"Carissa Shillito's endearing illustrations and carefully chosen words combine to create a heartwarming story of intergenerational friendship and love. Innis is young, Ernest is old, but together they make a team. I was not surprised to discover that this book is based on real-life events. Its portrayal of the fragility of human life and the power of love to transcend the years is powerful.

"I loved this book! This story is about the beautiful relationship between a child and his elderly relative. It's a celebration of love between generations."
