Description

Experience a year immersed in the healing power, adventure, and tranquility of the natural world, on sixteen acres of wild land in Southern Ontario, Canada.

With personal vignettes and color photographs that track the seasons of a single year, Infinite Paradise connects readers with the wildlife on sixteen acres of forest and water meadow along the Conestoga River in Southern Ontario, Canada.

Broken into seasons and then further into months and days, the book focuses on the buoyancy of life, showing readers that in a world battered by global warming, habitat destruction, and species extinction, many riches still remain. Interacting with nature can combat stress, heal the human spirit, and foster new and calming perspectives on life.

As Infinite Paradise illustrates, the complexity, beauty, and power of the natural world is available to any reader who stays open to the splendid lifeforms they live among.

Infinite Paradise is a love letter to nature and a reminder of the solace it offers in a chaotic world.”Sublime Book Review

“The elegant, expressive prose limns the beauty of the changing seasons as they unfold . . . A richly detailed, reflective account.”Kirkus Reviews

“Beeaff’s reflections will instill a powerful urge to slow down, breathe, and be fully present, taking in the ability of the natural world to boost wellness, give purpose, and rediscover roots. . . . In a world that feels increasingly restless and detached, this might be the change we all need.”—BookLife Reviews

“A master class in the art of close observation . . . Beeaff’s passion for Paradise and its continued existence as a refuge for family members, wild creatures, and plants is the book’s most illuminating quality. Infinite Paradise is a gorgeous lyric memoir about nature and a particular place.”

“There is a meditative stillness in Dianne Ebertt Beeaff’s Infinite Paradise, Witnessing the Wild. This, together with a deep respect for the nobility of nature, makes her book a contemplation on our earthly paradise using a fine filigree of words.”—Diana Beresford-Kroeger, author of To Speak for the Trees

“Part almanac, this uniquely personal record of nature’s seasonal changes on a patch of Canadian land the author’s mother called “Paradise” is lyrical prose, the product of an observant eye, an inquisitive mind, and a poetic soul. It has a permanent spot on my bookshelf.”—Sharon Byford-Ruth author of The Arabian: A Guide for Owners
