About the Author

Jay Crisp Crow thought she was pretty clever being a multi-award-winning copywriter turned children's book author, until her 10-year-old son took to their first book together - Hugo Dances - with the backspace button. Brutal. She lives in the wilds of the Western Australian hills with too many dogs to tell the council about and just the right amount of children and husbands. Hugo is her favourite child. Yes, he edited this biography.
Hugo Crisp Crow is the whirlwind who's all about sports, dancing, and eating pasta. At the time his first book launched he had just turned 11. In 2023, Hugo found his love of performing arts stretched beyond the ballroom, and he discovered his voice through Musical Theatre. Hugo Dances isn't just about winning - it's about hard work, determination, acceptance, and finding the courage to chase your dreams. He doesn't have many awards to include yet, but he's working on them. He approved this biography because, after all, he's the expert.

"A beautiful story to encourage any child to listen to their heart's song.""For all the kids with a dream of doing their own thing, no matter what society says they 'should' do.""An amazing book for all children. Hugo Dances is not just about a boy who wants to dance, it's about following your dreams and doing something you really want to do because you *just know* it's for you.""For all the families who are raising children to question the rules society tells them are unbreakable.""A delightful little book that really shows how determination, passion and dreams can all intertwine into a lesson for both children and parents alike!""Everything about this book is just lovely. And the illustrations? Wonderful!""Hugo Dances teaches all of us you can be imperfect and find joy.""He dances through the supermarket, he dances at the soccer pitch, it's just a joyful story about finding that song inside you absolutely must listen to."
