About the Author

Tim Schenck serves as rector of the Church of Bethesda by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. Creator of the wildly popular online devotion Lent Madness, Tim previously served parishes in Maryland, New York, and Massachusetts. Tim lives in the Bethesda rectory with his wife, Bryna, and two rescue dogs, Cooper and Daisy Duke.

"With typical good humor, deep research, a genuine love and devotion to the subject, and just enough of that characteristic snark to keep it funny, Schenck takes the novice and the aficionado alike on a coffee journey that will leave you craving not only coffee but the connections in community that have made its enjoyment so transformative for thousands of years." --Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows, Episcopal Bishop of Indianapolis

"Tim Schenck writes with a sharp wit that cuts only to open us up to a new truth. He teaches us about the justice and history and taste of coffee so we can taste the true gift of being alive in God's amazing creation." --Becca Stevens, author of The Way of Tea and Justice and founder of Thistle Farms

"Holy Grounds teaches us the good word of coffee. The Reverend Tim Schenck takes us on an incredible journey that connects our hearts to what is arguably the world's most popular drink and does so with many twists and turns. But in the end, it goes down as smooth as a great cup of coffee should. A must read for any over - caffeinated history lover!" --Mokhtar Alkhanshali, the Monk of Mokha
