About the Author
Rafael Bernal (1915-1972) was a Mexican diplomat and novelist, best known for his crime novels, including The Mongolian Conspiracy (New Directions).
Kit Schluter has translated books by authors including Rafael Bernal, Copi, Jaime Saenz, Anne Kawala, Olivia Tapiero, and the French Symbolist Marcel Schwob. He co-edited Salones de Belleza (an anthology of contemporary Mexican and Latin American poets) and is the author of the illustrated short story collection Cartoons and the poetry collection Pierrot's Fingernails.
