About the Author

Alyson McLayne is an award-winning writer of contemporary, historical, and paranormal romance. After earning her degree in theater at the University of Alberta, she moved to the west coast of Canada and worked in film for several years before buckling down and finishing her first published book.

She lives in Vancouver with her prop master husband, twin ten-year-olds, a couple of crazy kittens named Loki and Topaz, and a sweet, sucky chocolate lab named Jasper.

Alyson loves coffee, listening to podcasts, and watching Harry Potter with her kids. In case of emergencies, she keeps a stash of dark chocolate in the cupboard, which she savors late at night when she's writing...and the little monsters are asleep.

Reviews
"McLayne delivers a highly emotional, deeply satisfying tale of deceit and revenge, longing and loneliness, and ultimately of forgiveness and love. It's a very fresh perspective in the world of Scottish Highland historicals." - BookPage
"This fourth book in McLayne's series (beginning with Highland Promise) continues to reveal the larger intrigue befalling the sons of Gregor MacLeod, while giving Gavin and Deirdre a dramatic love story of their own." - Library Journal
"McLayne perfectly balances the raw emotions and pent-up desire at the heart of the romance with the thrilling swordplay and castle intrigue readers expect from their Scottish historical romances. Deeply touching love story between a fierce leader and the timid woman who finds her own strength by standing up to him." - Kirkus Reviews
