About the Author

Marsha Lee Berkman has published her prize-wining fiction, described as "original and powerful" in literary magazines and journals, university presses and anthologies, both nationally and internationally. She is editor of the acclaimed collection, Here I Am: Contemporary Jewish Stories From Around The World, published by the Jewish Publication Society and awarded the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Literary Award to recognize works of excellence and outstanding literary achievement by writers of all cultural and racial backgrounds. The author holds a Doctor of Science in Jewish Studies, as well as graduate degrees in both English and Creative Writing. She has written extensively about the historical forces and the power of memory that have shaped the collective consciousness and literature of the Jewish people. Her work is defined by the use of ancient myth, prayer, texts, and history to reveal the timeless complexities of the human condition.
