About the Author

Lori Arnold is from a small Midwest town, where her parents taught her the value of hard work, the importance of helping others, and the love of Jesus Christ. She attended Purdue University, where she competed as a 4-year division 1 varsity soccer player. After earning her MBA, Lori began her career as a researcher and capability-builder at Procter & Gamble. She then followed her passion to the National Personal Training Institute where she gained certifications in the areas of nutrition and personal training. This was truly divine intervention as Lori used this background to become a ketogenic diet guru and macronutrient wizard after her daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. Lori readily admits her education and experience did not prepare her for the role of "mom." In response, she read dozens of parenting books, over-analyzed each challenge she faced, and ultimately wrote "Heads Up Mom" to fill the gap in candid, encouraging, "front-line" information readily available for new moms. You can find out more about Lori on her website lori-arnold.com where she seeks to help moms win the long-game.

Reviews

"Best new mom book ever! This is the real deal." - Woman of a Thousand Laughs

"Yes yes YES! I've bumbled through the early years wondering WHY didn't anyone warn me about x, y, z?! I have read all the books on parenting (my degree is literally about kids and families) and yet I've still found myself struggling so, so much in these early years of motherhood. This is a gift to future readers. The tangible, real life examples. I could relate to nearly everything." - Stephanie

"This was sooo well articulated and sooo useful." [On the transition from Mr. and Mrs. to Mommy and Daddy]. - Monica

"This will be a really helpful-invaluable even-guide for any new mother that makes the good decision to read it." - Melanie

"A superb guide to surviving and thriving in motherhood! I was moved to tears at several points as the book deeply resonated with my own experience in a way I hadn't heard motherhood described." - Anne

"We had our baby girl last month! It has been a whirlwind for sure. I'm so glad I was more prepared from this book!" - Mandy

"As women, we don't hear enough about the challenges motherhood brings. Nobody really shares about their motherhood journey so candidly and honestly. As a result, when first-timers go through any of these challenges, they end up feeling isolated, guilty, and feel as if they're doing something wrong because motherhood isn't this perfect experience they've been told about. I especially liked how the ups and downs were addressed in such a positive, solution-driven mentality. It made the whole motherhood topic a lot more approachable and less intimidating. One thing that stuck with me is to address expectations across the board with your partner, from small chores all the way to the harder conversations like disciplining a child." - Eva
