Reviews

Getting to Great is a wonderful, readable, usable and thoughtful book with concrete strategies and examples for how to improve one's personal and work life, even when that effort seems daunting. Filled with real life examples (including from her own life) and activities (exercises), this book should be celebrated for its honesty and deep understanding of how and why people feel, think and act (or fail to act) in their personal and work lives. The author's clear writing style and sense of humor make this a book both to read and re-read.

-Karen Gross, author of Trauma Doesn't Stop at the School Door, former college president and Senior Policy Advisor to the US Department of Education

"Getting to G.R.E.A.T. is a gift to the cluttered mind. Through stories and research, Madelaine takes on the swirl of purpose, ambition, meaning, and fear that fills up our minds-and offers a simple path for sorting it all out."

-Brett Jenks, President and CEO, Rare, a global conservation organization

"Madelaine Weiss shares with us her genius in "Getting to G.R.E.A.T." She starts with real-life stories, some heart-wrenching, as a baseline to help you explore-through case studies, science, and then exercises-how you indeed can be the G.R.E.A.T. you want. I wish I had this book as a young working mom, later at mid-career, and finally as a reference as a seasoned senior executive."

-Wendy King, Leadership Expert, Author of "Avoid the Pitfalls," and former CFO, West Virginia University Health Sciences Center.

"An extraordinary examination of the journey and toolbox needed for Getting to G.R.E.A.T. Madelaine Weiss provides an engaging and a very practical and realistic guidebook combining theory, philosophy, and practice for mapping one's successes in life! Once I started, I couldn't put it down."
