About the Author

Cheryl Wilfong teaches mindfulness meditation at Vermont Insight Meditation Center when she isn't rearranging one of her 28 flower beds or tending her out-of-control vegetable garden. She combines these two interests in her award-winning books Garden Wisdom 365 Days and The Meditative Gardener. She writes an almost daily gardening blog www.TheMeditativeGardener.blogspot.com--winner of two blog awards. Her most recent book Breast Cancer Meets Mindfulness shows step-by-step how she experienced cancer with a calm mind. Cheryl is also the author of Following the Nez Perce Trail: a guide to the Nee-Me-Poo National Historic Trail with eyewitness accounts, 2nd edition, published by Oregon State University Press in 2006. This book is brimming with evidence that the natural world is our ever-renewing teacher. Cheryl Wilfong helps us see it's possible not to bring suffering on ourselves just because the weather is inconvenient or unexpected. The weather reminds us of the value of surrender, the reality that we are not in control. Cheryl's lovely and always fresh metaphors invite the reflective reader to see the parallels between the growing-and-dying world and the evolving world within.
