About the Author

Katrina Willard Hall, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the College of Education and Human Services, at the University of North Florida. Dr. Hall has done extensive work in PreK - 3 curriculum development, especially in the reading area, pinpointing high quality, diverse literature for the early childhood grades. Her latest project explores healthy schools and the use of outdoor classrooms. Dr. Hall earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy, from the University of Florida.
Kim A. Cheek, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Childhood Education, Literacy, and TESOL at the University of North Florida, where she is also the Elementary Education Program Area Leader. Her courses include teaching math, science, and social studies in early childhood settings. Dr. Cheek received her doctorate degree in science education from Durham University in the U.K.
