About the Author

Fija Callaghan is a storyteller and poet who has been recognised by a number of awards, including the HG Wells Short Story Prize shortlist. Her writing can be found in venues like Seaside Gothic, Gingerbread House, Howl: New Irish Writing, and elsewhere. Her debut collection of fabulist short stories, Frail Little Embers, was created to inspire hope in times of darkness. Fija is based in Dublin, Ireland.

Rebecca Purton is an accidental illustrator. She'd always loved making and drawing things but had no idea she was an illustrator until someone kind told her she might be. Before that moment she'd done all sorts--taught English as a foreign language, folded clothes in a shop for middle-aged women, ticked lists in a film archive, met a Japanese man, married him, lived with him in Japan, lived with him in the UK, attended umpteen different dance classes (currently ballet and belly) and rekindled a vague love of watching birds. In between these stops on her haywire path through life, she wrote and she read. She still writes and she still reads. Stories keep her marbles intact, and she's nothing without those marbles. She's based in Orpington or Tokyo, depending on the season and the prevailing wind.
