About the Author
Mark Lavine is the author of four novels: Dr Prozac, ForeverChild, Victimless Crimes, and Windekind. The dog likes to join in these adventures, but mostly prefers long naps.
Reviews

Midwest Book Review (Diane Donovan, Senior Reviewer):

The special value of ForeverChild lies in its strong character developments, its juxtaposition of bigger life questions that affect the entire social structure, and the action embedded into Kianno and Seelin's lives and choices.

Lavine creates enough detail and insights to produce an especially thought-provoking story of a future world teetering on both destruction and rebirth. This lends especially well to classroom and book club discussion, making ForeverChild a top recommendation for collections seeking more depth and debate opportunities from their sci-fi acquisitions than most books offer to this age group.

The Children's Book Review:

Core to the story are issues of freedom, oppression, and individualism, offering extensive scope for discussion both in classroom settings and with other readers. The story challenges readers, asking them to think seriously about their values and those of the society we live in. There are moments of heartbreak and despair, but-importantly-the novel ends on a ringing note of hope.

A gripping, fast-paced story with hard-hitting plot twists and a compelling cast of characters, ForeverChild is a must-read for any dystopian fiction fan with a keen eye on the present and future

SFF World:

Mark Lavine has created a fast paced story that is well thought-out and well told. His vision of the future is fascinating, and definitely an original idea. It is actually quite thought-provoking in many ways, showing aspects of our present world and its values from a whole new perspective.

If there is a negative about the book, it would be that I found the ending to be wrapped up a bit too fast. The story itself was captivating, but I felt the ending could have been better told over more pages. Then again, I'm used to 600+ page fantasy books, so I might be a bit biased here.

All in all, an excellent, well-written story that had me hooked from the very first page.

Reedsy (Catrina Prager):

Read over a 2-day binge, this chilling, imaginative dystopia is simply a must-read...Bottom line, should you read this book? Yes. No other words necessary. It really is good.
