Reviews
Joyce Carol Oates is an American institution.-- "BookReporter"
[Oates] jumps between genres and styles with amazing aplomb.-- "Booklist"
Grimly satisfying . . . Oates's prose is surgically precise, and her appetite for the grotesque falls on the right side of lurid. This will thrill the author's fans.-- "Publishers Weekly" (8/13/2024 12:00:00 AM)
There are no happy endings . . . yet, in thrall to a master manipulator of words, readers will grit their teeth and turn another page in this collection. The stories in Flint Kill Creek are unforgettable.-- "NY Journal of Books"
[These thirteen stories] from the reigning monarch of neo-gothic creepy-crawlies [are] fever dreams for readers with a taste for freak shows that just might be about them.-- "Kirkus" (9/14/2024 12:00:00 AM)
