BOOKLIST

"An impressive compendium of stunning black-and-white and colorized photos from the expedition, accompanied by numerous short, modern-day essays by leading experts, to give an intimate yet fulsome account. Foremost, respect is paid to the accompanying local sherpas and porters, who bore the prodigious weight not only of supplies but also translation, which included highly sensitive negotiations with local authorities for passage over sacred ground to the 29,029-foot peak."
