Description
When you've been Superman for nearly ninety years, you're bound to have a few bad days, as depicted in this celebration of Superman's lowest--but surprisingly hilarious--moments in comic book history. Superman debuted on the cover of Action Comics #1 in June of 1938, lifting a car above his head and smashing it to the ground. Perhaps a gentler approach would have sufficed, but nobody--not even the Man of Steel--is perfect. He's saved the world countless times and serves as an inspiration for generations. But for all his miraculous feats, Superman has stumbled along the way. It just makes him all the more relatable . . . and hilarious. It turns out that Superman can be just as prone to anger, jealousy, pettiness, and possession by ancient alien artifacts as the rest of us. In the officially licensed Even Superman Has Bad Days, author Jessica Plummer takes us on a unique and amusing tour of comic book history, exploring Superman at his least super, complete with full-color art from hundreds of comic books. From snatching scoops out from under Lois Lane, to forcing Jimmy Olsen to marry a gorilla and abandoning his cousin Supergirl at an orphanage, Superman can be a bit of a jerk. We can't hold it against him. After all, we have bad days too.

Jessica Plummer (she/her) was born in New York City, realized it was the birthplace of both musicals and comic books, and decided to never leave. Her short story "Flat White" was part of the Arthurian anthology Sword Stone Table (Vintage, 2021), a Locus Award finalist. By day, Jessica is a marketer at Berkley Publishing, where she works with authors from brand-new debuts to New York Times bestsellers, across science fiction and fantasy, romance, mystery, historical fiction, and more. She is also a contributing editor at Book Riot, where she primarily writes about comics. When not writing books, writing about books, or marketing books, Jessica can be found running, knitting, and/or thinking about superheroes. She lives in (of course) New York with her elderly pet turtle, Rico. Rico is probably also thinking about superheroes.
