About the Author
Sandra Parker, PhD, is a registered psychologist who, over the past thirty years, has helped people turn toward their inner experience with compassion. She invites people to understand unrest as a call to come home to the body in moments of vulnerability, to resolve anxiety, depression, and loss of intimacy. Her practice explores ideas from developmental psychology, neurobiology, psychodynamic therapy, experiential processes, and mindfulness practices. In addition to loving her work, she spends joyful time with her hands in the earth gardening, hiking in the woods, bicycling around the city, and can (not often enough) be found curled up on a sofa with a stiff cup of tea and a good book. She earned her doctoral degree at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, and is a member of the BC Psychological Association, Canadian Psychological Association, and Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Sandra lives by the ocean in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, with her husband and three feisty little dogs, who teach her daily about risking feeling everything. Drsandraparker.com

"From page one, I was in love with Embracing Unrest and high-lighting the heck out of Sandra's insights. As someone who believes the body is the way to real change and lasting insight, I can't recommend this book highly enough. I believe this book has the power to change your life and our hurting world."

Jennifer Louden, national bestselling author, The Woman's Comfort Book and Why Bother?

"The rest we seek can only be found if we turn around to head into the very feelings we have been running away from. A frightening thought to be sure, but Dr. Parker eases our alarm with a generous invitation to embrace our most vulnerable selves, heart-warming stories to illustrate the journey, and practical suggestions to guide our way. Many thanks to Sandra for this much-needed assurance and encouragement that embracing our vulnerability is indeed worth it!"
