Susan Webb Layne is a fourth-generation Texan, who never expected her fifth-generation children to leave Fort Worth and make their homes in other locations. Distant grandchildren presented a challenge for Susan, who grew up spending lots of time with near-by grandparents. An early vacation to visit her own far-away granddaughter on Maryland's Eastern Shore inspired Elinor's Glad-To-Be-Together Family and rekindled Susan's lifelong love of writing. Susan and her husband, Robert, continue to live a few miles from her childhood home. Her children and grandchildren are frequent visitors and continue to be the center of her life in spite of geographic location.
