Reviews

"Readers will relish this incredible sports novel that follows a young skater's journey toward her dream of being the best of her field. With Saxena's skating expertise shining through on every page, this vivid story shows what it's like to try and fail, and get up again (and again). This is no skating world of glamor and sparkle, but a realistic look at what it takes to be a competitive skater, including how much family support and self-belief-or the lack of both-play in one's success." -- Diane Magras, Author Secret of the Shadow Beasts (coming on June 14, 2022), The Mad Wolf's Daughter (New York Times Editors' Choice, ALSC Notable Children's Book, Junior Library Guild Spring 2018 Selection), The Hunt for the Mad Wolf's Daughter (Junior Library Guild Spring 2019 Selection) Dial Books for Young Readers/Penguin

"I held my breath at every jump and landing as though I was in the rink with Ruby Rani! But the true highlight of this book is the depiction of Ruby Rani's heartbreaking yet hopeful mental health journey. Character growth and plot are so skillfully intertwined that I found myself racing through the book. I can't wait to read more from this talented author!" -Amitha Jagannath Knight, MD, Author of Usha and the Big Digger
