About the Author

John Roger Barrie has served since 2001 as literary executor of influential author, historian, and philosopher Gerald Heard (1889-1971). He has overseen reissues of 17 classic Gerald Heard titles, both nonfiction and fiction. For more than four decades, he has studied and practiced spiritual disciplines from many different religious traditions and has studied with and received blessings from numerous spiritual teachers. His interfaith approach incorporates teachings and practices from several spiritual paths, including the rich mystical traditions from his native Catholicism, and the universal principles advanced by the respected, interfaith-oriented Ramakrishna-Vedanta tradition, of which he is an authorized lay instructor. His decades-long emphasis on experiential spiritual realization and his firsthand familiarity with diverse spiritual traditions has imbued him with a fluent knowledgebase and practical outlook when addressing the subtleties of the mystical path. John Roger Barrie has written forewords and afterwords to several Gerald Heard books. He has published three articles in Parabola magazine, and he has occasionally given talks. His first spiritual article appeared in 1981, and Dialogues With the Lord of Time is his first book. It would be useful for students of religion who have learned about the political and institutional side of religion, and wish to learn about the experiential and mystical side at its best." -June McDaniel, PhD, Professor Emerita of the History of Religions, Dept. of Religious Studies, College of Charleston, SC, and author of Lost Ecstasy and many other books and writings

It is a timeless parable of seeking, finding, and then integrating spiritual wisdom into human life, a task as urgent now as it has ever been." -Elizabeth M. G. Krajewski, PhD, Adjunct Assistant Professor and World Religions Instructor, Humanities Dept., Colby-Sawyer College, New London, NH
