About the Author

Editor Virginia Barrett is an influential poet, editor, and arts organizer, a graduate of the University of Virginia (where she was a student of Pulitzer and Bollingen Prize-winning poet Charles Wright), a Masters graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, and a professional teaching-artist for over 25 years. She is the author of many books of poetry including I JUST WEAR MY WINGS-collected poems of an aspiring mystic, coeditor of the acclaimed anthology OCCUPY SF-poems from the movement, and author of the travel memoir Mbira Maker Blues-a healing journey to Zimbabwe. A direct descendant of 17th- century lyric poet Edmund Waller (popularizer of the heroic couplet), pioneering female physician and social reformer Kate Waller Barrett (National Crittenton Foundation), and literary bibliophile Clifton Waller Barrett (friend and patron of poet Robert Frost), she endeavors to keep the ancestral literary-activist flame burning brightly.
