About the Author

Caroline Bock is a novelist, short story writer, and literary citizen. Her books include the critically acclaimed young adult novels LIE and BEFORE MY EYES from St. Martin's Press as well as the award-winning short story collection CARRY HER HOME (winner of the Washington Writers' Publishing House Fiction Award). She studied creative writing with Raymond Carver and Tobias Wolff at Syracuse University and earned an MFA in Fiction from the City University of New York. She was also a cable television executive for two decades at Bravo, IFC, IFC Films and AMC networks. She lives in Maryland with her family where she writes and teaches creative writing workshops.

These stories of how a family comes together and is undone, how the people we love leave and stay, how the reverberations of what happened way-back-when retain the power to shake us to cores today, now forever -- Leslie Pietrzyk, author of Silver Girl and This Angel on My Chest.

With the propulsion of a great novel and the density of a poem, Bock skillfully guides us back and forth through time and into the hearts of a myriad of characters, the most affecting an Italian woman, her Jewish husband, and their progeny. These stories, varying in length and form, cohere, largely because we always know where we are, right at the center of Bock's big beating heart." -- Michelle Brafman, author of Betrand Court, Washing the Dead, and Swimming with Ghosts.
