Books Do Not Have Wings

Since Brynne Barnes was a child, she was determined to fly; reading and writing has always made her feel like she could. In classrooms all over the country--and the world--she likes to remind young readers that they, too, have wings. Her debut book, Colors of Me is a 2012 Gelett Burgess Children's Book Award winner, a 2012 Friends of American Writers Literary Award winner, and an award-winning finalist in the hardcover fiction category of the 2011 Best Books Awards sponsored by USA Book News. Brynne is also the author of Books Do Not Have Wings and When I See You.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Rogério Coelho lives in Curitiba, a city in southern Brazil, with his family. He has been drawing since forever and has illustrated more than one hundred books for publishers in Brazil and the United States, including Books Do Not Have Wings. Besides his work on books, Rogério also illustrates for magazines and comics. He has received several awards for his work, including the Jabuti prize in 2012 and 2016. In 2017 he received the gold medal in the Independent Publisher Book Awards for his illustrated book Boat of Dreams.
