About the Author

Blair Northen Williamson is from Richmond, Virginia but has spent much of her childhood on the coast of North Carolina where she developed a passion for the ocean. After graduating from the University of Virginia, her love of nature and the ocean led her to work as a sailing captain and a scuba diving instructor! Blair writes stories that inspire change and empower children to protect our oceans. Her debut picture book, Island Girls: Free the Sea of Plastic, was named a Book Excellence Award Winner in 2023. She has a soft spot for stories that mix humor with a little bit of heart. Taylor is an active member of SCBWI and Julie Hedlund's 12x12 Picture Book Challenge. She was a 2022 PBParty finalist and has received numerous recognitions for her illustrations through SCBWI. Taylor once bought a small tortoise from a stranger at a gas station in rural Illinois.
