Reviews

"Donna Marie Merritt's wonderful (wonder-full) poems represent years of sacred pondering, and reflect an open, inquisitive, faithful, loving mind and heart. This book is a steady and wise companion for those who read the Bible with real devotion and honest questions. It's a form of 'call and response, ' where the Bible, and God, call, and Merritt helps each of us answer."
-Connie Wanek, award-winning poet of six collections
including Consider the Lilies: Mrs. God Poems

"What a wonderful and inspirational book, a book which presents what is at the heart of the Bible--those lessons and stories which offer to us in our finest light or in our darkest moments the truth of what it means to struggle to be human. In Donna Marie Merritt's new book, Bible Poems, readers will recognize themselves in shimmering condensation, will see themselves as strong and competent beings as well as humble and supplicant subjects. We 'Lie, denounce, defy, pounce' and we also 'Hope, achieve, cope, believe.' Imagine a box of precious jewels. Or perhaps string after string of luminescent pearls. These jewels, these pearls each carry within them a small glimmer of truth, of wisdom, of stern instruction, and of unconditional love. And you'll find them in the pages of this fine book."
-John L. Stanizzi, author of many titles
including Sundowning, Chants, and Hallelujah Time!

"What a blessing this collection of poetry is, timely and insightful. Inspired by Scripture, Donna Marie Merritt weaves together lessons that are accessible and affectionate, filled with common sense and hope. A wonderful addition to your devotional library, or a perfect gift for someone who needs a word of encouragement in these challenging times."
-Judy Christie, award-winning journalist and author
of more than one dozen books, including
the Hurry Less, Worry Less series
