Received B.A. in English with Distinction in Creative Writing from Wesleyan University 1961. U.S. Peace Corps/Philippines 1962-64. Later worked in three Peace Corps training programs for the Philippines. Conducted research on the impact of "Green Revolution" rice technology on farming communities in Cotabato, Philippines 1969-72. Received Ph.D. in Anthropology from University of Hawaii 1977. Taught nearly 30 years in the Department of Environmental Studies and Planning, Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park, CA. Invited to China in 1996, 2000 as consultant in sustainable development.
